Our classes are perfect for beginners! Kickboxers of all fitness levels are welcomed and encouraged to come work out with us. The great thing about our classes is that we meet you exactly where you’re at. Working out in a group setting alongside new workout friends who share similar health goals makes all the difference. If you’re a beginner, we adjust workouts and intensities to fit your pace. If you’re intermediate or advanced, our instructors know how to crank up the challenge and keep things fun for you too!

If you’re new to working out, haven’t worked out in awhile, or just new to kickboxing, don’t worry. We’ve designed our program to make kickboxing for beginners as welcoming and effective as possible. You don’t need perfect timing, fancy gear, or prior skills to start—you just need to show up.

Kickboxing delivers an intense calorie burn while building lean muscle and boosting confidence. It combines heart-pumping cardio, full-body strength training, core engagement, and stress relief into one workout that always feels fresh. Whether you’re looking to lose weight, gain energy, or clear your mind, kickboxing is THE go-to solution.

A typical Shape Up Kickboxing class includes:

  • Warm-up: A high-energy start with dynamic movements and cardio drills
  • Stretching: Prepare your body and improve flexibility for safer training
  • Bag rounds: Use your new skills in guided combos on a heavy bag
  • Speed rounds & partner drills: Fast-paced combos and interactive drills to boost agility and endurance
  • Cooldown: Reset with stretches and breathing to recover and refocus

Answering one of our frequent questions: Shape Up Kickboxing is all about fitness, not fighting. Our classes are built around cardio, HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training), endurance, and full-body conditioning. While most of our instructors have martial arts backgrounds and teach proper punching and kicking technique, the goal isn’t to train for a ring or learn how to spar. Instead, we focus on helping you sweat, burn calories, build strength, and have fun doing it.

So what about when you’re no longer a beginner? At Shape Up Kickboxing, there’s always a way to take it to the next level.

Many of our kickboxers challenge themselves in creative and intense ways:

  • ? Pumping up the intensity during bag rounds
  • ????? Wearing weighted vests
  • ? Doubling up with two classes in one day (yes, people really do this!)
  • ?? Cutting rest time to keep the heart rate up
  • ? Using kickboxing to complement other workouts—whether weightlifting, training for a 5K, or taking on new fitness challenges, kickboxing boosts overall performance and motivation

Even if you’ve been with us for months or years, the variety and structure of our workouts ensure you never plateau. Whether you’re pushing for more speed, more reps, or more stamina, there’s always room to grow.

  • Arrive 15–20 minutes early to meet your coach and get comfortable
  • Gloves provided at the studio when you start training
  • Train barefoot or in socks—no shoes on the mat
  • Bring water and a towel to stay hydrated and fresh
  • Hand wraps recommended; we’ll provide and show you how to use them if you don’t have any
  • Classes designed to fit your fitness level, from beginner to advanced
