Kickboxing Grayson GA- Reducing Plastic Waste

Kickboxing Grayson GA

This week, in honor of Earth Day, Shape Up Kickboxing Grayson GA would like to take the opportunity to share on how we can be more green. With our actions, we can find ways to help make a difference in our environment. Similar to becoming physically and mentally healthier, becoming greener can be something we improve in and work towards.

One way we can reduce plastic waste is to find alternatives to our daily needs. For items like straws, cutlery, bottles, and bags, we can invest in reusable material. As plastic can be a great and useful product, plastic pollution is harmful. Every year, 500 billion plastic bags are used worldwide (Plastic Oceans), and it takes 1,000 years for just one bag to degrade (Green Education Foundation). The amount of plastic waste continually affects our landfills, oceans, and wildlife.

If you’re looking for a great place to start being more green, replace one-time use items with reusable alternatives. For instance, cloth diapers instead of disposables, cardboard boxes over plastic bottles, reusable bottles and mugs over bottles, metal straws over plastic ones, reusable cutlery over disposable, and containers over plastic zip bags. The list could continue! A reason for starting with one-time items is that 380 million tons of plastic are produced yearly, and about 50% of that is from one-time use items (Plastic Oceans). By starting with replacing the little things we can manage, we help save the planet and our money.

Striving to find ways to reduce plastic can be a challenge but rewarding. As plastic is great convenience, it’s also a product that’s difficult to recycle and contributes to pollution. By working towards a greener lifestyle, we can help to reduce waste.
